Christmas & New Year Trips

Oct 19, 202626 min read

Want to end 2026 somewhere more memorable than your usual neighbourhood café? You could watch the winter sun rise over Spiti's stark mountains, explore Manali with your friends, take a quiet break in Jibhi or welcome 2027 beside Udaipur's lakes. A well-planned Christmas and New Year trip from Delhi is a wonderful excuse to get out of the routine—and you do not need to organise every hotel, vehicle and stop yourself.

The trick is choosing the right holiday. A freezing high-altitude road trip is very different from a relaxed couple's getaway. Some travellers want snow, some want a lively group, and others simply want a few peaceful days away from city traffic. Your budget, available leave, fitness and tolerance for long journeys all matter.

This guide compares seven destinations and the matching festive batches from Serenade Travels: Winter Spiti Valley, Manali, Kasol–Kheerganga, Tirthan–Jibhi–Shoja, Udaipur, McLeodganj–Triund and Chopta–Tungnath. It covers batch dates, festive prices, winter conditions and what to check before you book your New Year tour package from Delhi.

Festive offer: Serenade Travels is advertising up to ₹3,000 off selected Christmas and New Year packages. This is a maximum promotional saving, not a guaranteed ₹3,000 discount on every trip. Check the eligible departure, sharing option and final quote before paying.

Quick answer: For a serious snow-and-mountains adventure, consider Winter Spiti; for a classic first-time Himalayan holiday, Manali; for backpacker energy, Kasol; for tranquillity, Jibhi; and for a comfortable heritage-focused getaway without mountain-road uncertainty, Udaipur. Festive batches run from 22 December 2026 to 6 January 2027, and the best choice depends on your dates and travel style.

1. Spiti Valley — Welcome 2027 in the Frozen Himalayas

If your ideal holiday is about remote landscapes rather than party crowds, a Spiti Valley New Year trip is a strong contender. Winter changes the whole character of this high-altitude region. The valleys become quieter, mountains look dramatically bare or snow-dusted, village life slows and nights are bitterly cold. The experience can be unforgettable precisely because it is not a typical hill-station break.

Key Monastery in snow – Spiti Valley New Year trip from Delhi

It is also a destination that deserves respect. Spiti in December and January is an adventure involving long driving days, limited services, cold conditions and possible itinerary changes. Travellers should not book it expecting the ease of a Manali weekend.

What can you see on a Winter Spiti trip?

The route and road conditions determine what can be visited. Serenade's winter itinerary references the Shimla–Kinnaur approach, landscapes around Sangla, Chitkul, Tabo and Kaza, and attractions such as Key Monastery, Hikkim, Langza, Komic, Chicham Bridge, Kalpa and Lingti frozen waterfall. Some locations may need to be skipped because of snow, ice, local access restrictions or travel time.

Chicham Bridge, Asia's highest bridge – winter Spiti package in December

A favourite memory for many travellers is not one famous landmark but the journey itself: the changing colour of mountains after sunrise, small Himalayan settlements, monastery architecture and the contrast between bright daylight and freezing evenings.

Winter Spiti package from Delhi in December: festive batches

Best of Winter Spiti — festive price ₹21,499 triple / ₹22,999 double per person

This 6-night/7-day itinerary uses an overnight Delhi–Shimla journey and a return leg around the destination days. The festive price is ₹3,000 below the MRP of ₹24,499 triple / ₹25,999 double. The regular, non-festive price of the same package starts at ₹18,499 per person. The package lists transport from Delhi, six nights' stay, six breakfasts, six dinners, a trip captain, experienced drivers and basic on-tour medical equipment, including an oxygen cylinder and oximeter. Confirm the precise inclusions on your selected batch before booking.

The festive batches are 22–30 Dec, 23–31 Dec, 25 Dec–02 Jan, 26 Dec–02 Jan, 28 Dec–05 Jan and 29 Dec–06 Jan. These are scheduled batches—not proof that seats are currently available.

Best Winter Escape to Spiti Valley — advertised from ₹16,999 per person

A shorter 5-night/6-day option for travellers who want a winter Spiti experience but cannot commit as much leave. It has no separate Christmas batch on the website, so ask for the itinerary and a festive quote.

Winter Spiti Valley — advertised from ₹18,999 per person

Another 6-night/7-day winter package. Compare its exact route, accommodation, group arrangements and availability against Best of Winter Spiti rather than choosing by a small price difference alone.

Book this trip

Can you travel to Spiti Valley in December or January?

Yes, a winter trip may be possible via Shimla → Kinnaur → Nako/Tabo → Kaza, subject to the road being passable. The Manali–Kunzum Pass–Kaza route normally closes in winter. Consequently, the classic summer loop and a visit to Chandratal Lake should not be promised in a normal Christmas or New Year itinerary.

The district administration advises travellers to monitor road conditions closely; heavy snowfall can change the situation quickly. See the official Lahaul and Spiti travel guidance for seasonal route information.

Cold also changes how you travel. Expect sub-zero temperatures, carry proper insulated layers, protect electronics, drink water regularly and allow time for altitude adjustment. Travellers with health concerns or uncertainty about high altitude should seek individual medical advice before committing. An on-tour oxygen cylinder is a precaution, not a guarantee of medical safety.

Best for: Experienced or well-prepared travellers, photographers, small groups who enjoy rugged scenery, and adventurous couples comfortable with a demanding journey.

Think twice if: You need guaranteed snowfall, luxury conveniences at every stop, a fixed no-change itinerary or a very short break.

Plan your budget: Read our Spiti Valley trip cost guide for 2026–27, the best time to visit Spiti Valley and the best places to visit in Spiti Valley in winter.

2. Manali — A Classic Christmas and New Year Mountain Escape

There is a reason Manali Christmas trips remain popular with Delhi travellers. The destination feels festive in winter, offers attractive mountain views and has a mix of cafés, markets, scenic drives and activities. A Manali New Year trip can be relaxed or packed with sightseeing, depending on your mood.

Solang Valley in winter – Manali Christmas trip from Delhi

Solang Valley is one of the main draws. When conditions allow, travellers visit for mountain scenery and seasonal snow activities. The type and location of snow activities depend on weather, safety and local permissions; they should not be assumed to be included in every tour.

Serenade package: Glimpse of Manali

Glimpse of Manali with Solang Valley is a 2-night/3-day package. Festive prices are ₹8,500 quad / ₹9,000 triple / ₹9,500 double per person, ₹2,000 below the MRP. It suits travellers who want an accessible winter getaway without committing to a full week on the road, and it is one of the easiest weekend trips from Delhi in December.

Batches: 22–26, 23–27, 24–28, 25–29, 26–30 and 27–31 Dec, plus 29 Dec–02 Jan. The actual schedule, pickup arrangement, sharing category and included sightseeing need to be checked against the selected departure.

Want both Manali and Kasol? The 3-night/4-day Manali–Kasol festive package has the same ₹8,500 / ₹9,000 / ₹9,500 prices with batches on 22–27, 23–28, 24–29, 25–30 and 26–31 Dec, plus 29 Dec–02 Jan.

What should you do in Manali in December?

Spend time exploring the town, its cafés and mountain views; enjoy the atmosphere of Old Manali where accessible; and dedicate time to Solang Valley or another permitted nearby sightseeing area. Build flexibility into the plan because traffic and weather-related delays are common during the festive rush.

For a couple, a less packed itinerary may work best. For college friends, a shared group package can keep logistics and accommodation simpler. Families should check walking distances, room heating and the age suitability of planned activities.

Best for: A first Himalayan winter holiday, couples, friend groups and travellers who want mountain scenery without the intensity of Spiti.

Booking tip: Ask whether the quote includes the journey from Delhi, sightseeing transfers, heating charges, breakfast/dinner and any activities. Do not budget for a specific snowfall experience. For more ideas, see our guides to the best places to visit in Manali in winter and a Manali trip from Delhi.

3. Kasol–Kheerganga — A Backpacker-Style New Year Escape

If your group prefers mountain cafés, riverside scenery and a relaxed backpacker atmosphere, Kasol in December may be more appealing than a crowded countdown destination. Located in the Parvati Valley, Kasol is often chosen by younger travellers who want to meet people, explore nearby areas and spend more time outdoors.

Kheerganga trail in the Parvati Valley – Kasol New Year trip

The Kasol–Kheerganga festive package is 2 nights/3 days at ₹8,500 quad / ₹9,000 triple / ₹9,500 double per person (₹2,000 off MRP), with the same seven batches as Manali: 22–26 to 27–31 Dec and 29 Dec–02 Jan. Confirm the precise trek plan and final quote when enquiring.

Is the Kheerganga trek suitable around New Year?

This is the most important question to ask. Snow, ice, weather warnings, local restrictions and guide assessments can make higher trekking routes unsafe or inaccessible. Do not assume that Kheerganga will be open or that an advertised name guarantees completing the trek. Ask Serenade for the current operational route and contingency plan.

Even without a full trek, a Parvati Valley trip can focus on beautiful mountain surroundings, village walks where safe, cafés and time with friends. Your enjoyment should not depend on achieving one potentially weather-sensitive activity.

Best for: Backpackers, young adult groups, casual photographers and travellers who enjoy a social mountain setting.

Before paying: Verify the starting point, whether transport is overnight, the difficulty and availability of any trek, accommodation type, meals and any costs not covered.

4. Tirthan–Jibhi–Shoja — A Peaceful Winter Getaway

Not every New Year holiday has to involve loud celebrations. Jibhi and Tirthan Valley suit people who want to slow down: mornings with mountain views, quiet village surroundings, gentle exploration and more time away from screens. Shoja adds a beautiful higher-elevation mountain setting, although access depends on road conditions.

Jibhi village in winter – Jibhi Christmas trip from Delhi

The Tirthan Jibhi Shoja festive package is 2 nights/3 days at ₹8,500 quad / ₹9,000 triple / ₹9,500 double per person, with batches on 22–26, 23–27, 24–28, 25–29, 26–30 and 27–31 Dec, plus 29 Dec–02 Jan. Check which areas will actually be covered in winter instead of assuming every summer sightseeing stop remains open.

Why choose Jibhi for Christmas?

The attraction is its unhurried pace. Rather than racing between numerous landmarks, plan for a scenic stay, cosy meals and short outings appropriate to the conditions. If you travel as a couple, ask for private-room options. If you travel with friends, compare sharing configurations before deciding that one advertised starting price fits your group.

Winter rain, frost or snowfall can change drive times, especially on narrow hill roads. Leave enough room for a relaxed return to Delhi.

Best for: Couples, introverts, nature lovers, people looking for a quieter break and small groups who value scenery more than parties.

5. Udaipur & Mount Abu — A Royal New Year Celebration

Snow is not everyone's idea of a holiday. For a more comfortable climate, photogenic architecture and evenings beside the water, a Udaipur New Year trip is an appealing alternative to the Himalayan destinations. The city combines palaces, lakes, colourful lanes, markets and memorable places to sit and enjoy a meal.

Lake Pichola at sunset – Udaipur New Year trip from Delhi

The Royal Udaipur with Mount Abu festive package is 2 nights/3 days at ₹6,999 quad / ₹7,499 triple / ₹7,999 double per person, with the same seven batches: 22–26, 23–27, 24–28, 25–29, 26–30 and 27–31 Dec, plus 29 Dec–02 Jan. It works especially well for couples, friend groups interested in photography and travellers who prefer cultural sightseeing over cold-weather activities.

What can you explore around Udaipur?

The City Palace area, lake views, historic streets and local markets are common favourites. Your actual package itinerary determines which attractions, entrances and excursions are included. Mount Abu can add another scenic dimension, but check the exact day allocation so the trip does not become rushed.

During late December, popular hotels and restaurants may be busy. Book restaurants or special New Year experiences independently if they are not included in the trip quotation. A package booking does not automatically cover gala dinners, event admission or ticketed parties.

Best for: Couples, families seeking a more relaxed winter climate, heritage lovers and anyone who prefers a city-and-sightseeing holiday.

Before booking: Ask for the precise hotel category, room-sharing rules, city transfers, monument fees and whether a New Year's Eve event is included or charged separately. Our guides to the top 25 places to visit in Udaipur and the best time to visit Udaipur can help you plan.

6. McLeodganj–Triund and Chopta–Tungnath — For Mountain Adventure Lovers

Want mountains but cannot take the long leave required for Spiti? Consider McLeodganj–Triund or Chopta–Tungnath. Both have striking Himalayan settings, though winter plans depend heavily on local trail safety.

McLeodganj–Triund: Mountains, cafés and Dhauladhar views

McLeodganj attracts travellers for its Tibetan cultural atmosphere, cafés and surrounding mountain scenery. A McLeodganj Triund New Year trip is offered as the McLeodganj–Triund festive package: 2 nights/3 days at ₹8,500 quad / ₹9,000 triple / ₹9,500 double per person, with batches on 22–26, 23–27, 24–28, 25–29, 26–30 and 27–31 Dec, plus 29 Dec–02 Jan.

Triund trek near McLeodganj – McLeodganj Triund New Year trip

A Triund hike may be possible only when conditions and local advice support it; ice and snowfall can make the route unsuitable. Travellers should ask whether the itinerary includes a trek or a weather-safe alternative. The wider Dharamshala–McLeodganj area can still be enjoyable when a particular trail cannot be attempted, so set expectations based on the confirmed itinerary, not simply the package title. Our McLeodganj travel guide has more ideas.

Chopta–Tungnath: Dramatic peaks and winter landscapes

For mountain scenery and a trekking-oriented atmosphere, Chopta–Tungnath is another popular choice. It is a regular 2-night/3-day package from ₹6,500 per person with no festive batch, so confirm winter access, route status and a December or January quote before planning around it. The trek and temple accessibility cannot be assumed in winter; closures, snowfall and trail risks may require an adjusted plan.

A sensible winter journey values conditions over checklists. Bring appropriate footwear, do not leave trails without a guide and check the local situation immediately before departure.

Best for: Active travellers who understand that winter hiking plans are conditional. Neither trip should be sold as a guaranteed summit or guaranteed-snow experience.

Christmas & New Year 2026–27 Tour Package Price Comparison

Budget comparisons are useful only if they compare the same kind of price. For Serenade, there are regular package starting prices and separate festive batch prices. The festive up to ₹3,000 off campaign is built into the festive prices below; it should not be subtracted again.

Important: All amounts are per person and based on the package data on the website. They are not a real-time availability check. A lower non-holiday price does not apply to departures falling over Christmas or New Year. Request an itemised confirmation from Serenade Travels before paying.

Christmas & New Year Sale 2026 — Up to ₹3,000 OFF with Serenade Travels

Serenade Travels is promoting a Christmas & New Year Sale with savings of up to ₹3,000 on selected trips. The campaign covers popular holiday destinations including Spiti Valley, Manali, Tirthan–Jibhi, Kasol and Udaipur, with any additional eligible packages subject to current offer terms.

If you already know your destination, this is a good time to compare the final payable amount rather than just the headline discount. Ask whether the offer applies to your exact departure date and room-sharing category and what payment is required to confirm your place.

A practical message to send is: “Hi Serenade Travels, I’m interested in a Christmas/New Year 2026–27 trip from Delhi. Could you share the available batches, final per-person price after any eligible offer, inclusions and cancellation policy?”

Which New Year Trip from Delhi Should You Choose?

Choosing a place is easier when you begin with the kind of experience you actually want. This table also works as a shortlist of new year party destinations near Delhi, snow trips near Delhi and budget New Year trips.

Your travel styleGood optionsWhy they fit
Solo traveller hoping to meet peopleSpiti, Kasol or Manali group tripsShared journeys and group arrangements
Couple seeking a relaxed breakJibhi, Udaipur or ManaliScenic time together without a demanding expedition
Friends travelling on a budgetKasol, Jibhi, ManaliShorter trips with lower base prices
First-time Himalayan visitorManaliMore familiar tourist infrastructure than remote Spiti
Dedicated mountain photographerSpitiDistinctive winter landscapes and dramatic light
Heritage and food loverUdaipurPalaces, streets, markets and local cuisine
Trekking enthusiastMcLeodganj or ChoptaTrekking interest, provided winter access is safe
Traveller short on leaveTwo- or three-night destination packagesMore manageable than a week-long Spiti itinerary

If several choices fit, compare three things: total door-to-door travel time, the activities that are genuinely available in winter, and the exact final quote for your dates. A cheap package that spends almost your entire break on the road may not be the best value for you.

For travellers arriving in Delhi from Jaipur, Mumbai, Bengaluru or elsewhere, remember to add train or flight time and costs. Do not assume every Serenade package starts from your home city merely because Delhi–Delhi transport is advertised.

How to Plan a Christmas or New Year Trip from Delhi

Choose dates before you choose a package

Christmas falls on Friday, 25 December 2026, and New Year's Day falls on Friday, 1 January 2027. Some festive batches leave several days before the celebration, allowing the main event to happen during the trip; other batches travel across the holiday itself. Read the detailed dates in the batch table above rather than guessing based on a “Christmas batch” or “New Year batch” label.

Weekend trips may include overnight Delhi departures before the destination day count begins. Longer Spiti routes can occupy considerably more calendar time than their headline 6N/7D duration suggests. Check when you depart Delhi and when you actually return.

Set a complete budget, not just a package budget

Your cost may include the basic package, a chosen sharing upgrade, optional activities, lunches or snacks, attraction entrance fees, personal purchases, transfers to a pickup point and any extra hotel night before or after the trip.

Ask for a written inclusion/exclusion list and the payment schedule. Review cancellation and weather-disruption terms before committing, particularly for winter Himalayan departures.

Pack for the destination, not for Instagram photos

For Spiti and colder mountain routes, carry thermal base layers, fleece or wool mid-layers, a proper insulated outer jacket, warm socks, gloves, a cap, suitable winter footwear, lip balm, sunscreen, sunglasses, drinking water, personal medication and a power bank. A small day bag is useful for the vehicle and sightseeing stops.

For Manali, Kasol and Jibhi, layers are still essential, but the exact gear depends on where the group travels and whether walking or snow activities are involved. For Udaipur, light layers for the day and warmer clothing for evenings may be more practical than expedition clothing.

Understand altitude and weather risks

High altitude is not the same as ordinary cold weather. Spiti travellers should learn the symptoms of altitude-related illness, avoid rushing acclimatisation and seek appropriate medical guidance if they have relevant health concerns. Do not rely on a blog—or a group captain—as a substitute for medical assessment.

Snowfall is possible in Himalayan winter destinations but is never guaranteed on a particular date or in a particular town. Equally, heavy snowfall can interrupt the very route you were hoping to enjoy. Maintain flexibility and follow local safety advisories.

Confirm transport and stay arrangements

Before booking, check the vehicle type, pickup point, hotel or homestay arrangements, room occupancy, whether heating is provided or charged extra, the number of meals, trip-captain availability and backup plans. If you are booking as a couple or family, ask whether private rooms and any age-specific needs can be accommodated.

If the planned destination has winter trekking, confirm guide arrangements and what happens if the route is restricted. The goal is an enjoyable trip, not forcing an activity in unsafe conditions.

Christmas vs New Year — When Should You Travel?

Both festive periods can be popular, but they create slightly different holidays.

Christmas trips are ideal for travellers with leave available around 25 December. They are also a good way to finish the year early and return before the New Year work rush. Many travellers look for mountain towns with a festive atmosphere, while others prefer Spiti's quieter landscape.

New Year trips are attractive for people who want to welcome 2027 away from home. Be careful with timing: a departure on 29 December might place you at your destination for the countdown, while another itinerary could still be in transit on 31 December. Ask the operator where your group is scheduled to be on New Year's Eve.

Pricing and crowds may increase during both windows. A few days before or after the peak period can sometimes offer a different balance of cost, availability and atmosphere, but you should check actual rates instead of assuming off-peak discounts.

For destinations such as Jibhi or Spiti, the celebration may be the journey itself rather than an organised party. If a countdown event is important, confirm it specifically; festival-themed marketing does not necessarily mean an event ticket or party is included.

Why Consider Serenade Travels for Your Winter Trip?

Serenade Travels offers a range of group escapes and private travel options from its India travel portfolio. That gives travellers a choice between joining a scheduled batch and enquiring about a trip planned around their own preferences.

The Best of Winter Spiti itinerary lists several practical inclusions: Delhi–Shimla and return AC semi-sleeper bus travel, six nights of accommodation, specified breakfasts and dinners, on-tour transport, a trip captain and an experienced driver. It also lists basic emergency equipment. These specific inclusions should not be assumed for every destination or package.

For shorter holidays, Serenade's Manali, Kasol, Jibhi, Udaipur, McLeodganj and Chopta products provide different choices of duration and travel experience. You can compare current listings, ask for the complete itinerary and decide whether a group or private journey makes more sense.

The most important booking habit is simple: review the written itinerary, dates, price breakup and terms before paying. That protects your expectations and helps the organiser deliver the kind of trip you actually want.

Plan Your Christmas & New Year Escape with Serenade Travels

The best Christmas and New Year trip from Delhi is not always the one with the most snow or the longest list of stops. It is the trip that fits your travel companions, leave, budget and expectations. Spiti Valley offers a remarkable winter adventure for prepared travellers. Manali is a familiar mountain escape. Kasol appeals to backpackers, Jibhi encourages you to slow down, and Udaipur offers heritage and a gentler winter break. McLeodganj and Chopta bring additional mountain experiences when conditions permit.

Serenade Travels' Christmas & New Year Sale 2026–27 advertises up to ₹3,000 off selected packages, with prices depending on the trip and departure. To make the most of the holiday period, check available dates and ask for the final written quote before booking.

Frequently Asked Questions

Popular options include Manali, Spiti Valley, Kasol, Tirthan–Jibhi, Udaipur, McLeodganj and Chopta. Pick according to your available days, budget, comfort preferences and willingness to travel in winter mountain conditions.

Serenade's shorter festive trips are the most affordable: Royal Udaipur starts at ₹6,999 per person (quad sharing), and Manali, Kasol, Tirthan–Jibhi and McLeodganj start at ₹8,500 per person (quad sharing) for the 22 Dec–02 Jan batches. Compare the final holiday quote rather than relying on regular starting rates.

Travel may be possible via Shimla and Kinnaur when the road is open. The Manali–Kunzum approach is usually closed during winter. Expect extreme cold and potential road disruptions, and check current official advisories before departure.

Spiti is a demanding high-altitude journey. Risks include severe cold, altitude-related illness, icy roads and weather delays. First-time travellers should assess their health and comfort carefully, choose a properly organised route and never assume conditions are risk-free.

Snow is possible in and around Manali during winter, especially at higher elevations, but the timing and location of snowfall cannot be guaranteed. Plan an enjoyable trip even if it does not snow during your visit.

The festive Best of Winter Spiti batches are priced at ₹21,499 per person on triple sharing and ₹22,999 on double sharing, which is ₹3,000 below the MRP (₹24,499 / ₹25,999). The regular package starts from ₹18,499. Batches run from 22 Dec to 06 Jan; ask for the exact dates and final quote.

Group packages can appeal to solo travellers who want company and shared arrangements. Ask about room sharing, the expected age mix, trip leadership, individual requirements and how the group is managed before booking.
